Hi! I'm Nick Le Mesurier. I'm 51 years old, married, and I live in Coventry in the West Midlands, England. I'm a writer of fiction and a student on the Diploma in Writing course at the newly formed National Academy of Writing at Birmingham City University. I've also written and published lots of papers and reports on health and social care in the academic press.
I've done many kinds of work. I've been a farmer, a lorry driver, a home help (at one time the only male home help in Wales), and a social worker. My job at the moment is a researcher into quality in health and social care services at the Centre for Ageing and Mental Health, Staffordshire University. Some of my research work is featured in this site. I'm also a volunteer at a night shelter for homeless asylum seekers at the Coventry Peace House.
My fiction is mainly concerned with loss and vulnerability, and how people cope with them. Its not all gloomy: some of it is quite funny! I'm also interested in exploring different forms of prose fiction, particularly the short story form.
